LAKE FOREST — Lake Forest officials and representatives of the real estate and development communities broke ground November 3 on Kelmscott Park, which will add a mix of 165 new housing opportunities at the northwest corner of Laurel and Western Avenues.

For nearly a century, the neighborhood surrounding Wheaton’s downtown red-brick courthouse and its signature clock tower served the legal and civic needs of DuPage County.
The two proposed apartment buildings would flank the Medical District Apartments (foreground), which sit between the Illinois Medical District and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
A development group plans about 500 apartments on the near West Side, convinced it can fill them with workers and students from the Illinois Medical District and University of Illinois at Chicago.
The woman is 86 years old. She has called her North Shore house “home” for 53 years. Realities settled in recently, forcing her to consider downsizing.
The house was put on the market. It was sold.
“She needs to be out of the house by mid-August,” says the woman’s broker, Patti Skirving of Coldwell Banker-Winnetka. “It was overwhelming. It was difficult for her, stressful. There’s a lot of emotion involved, for many, when they downsize.”

Northfield-based Focus Development has won final approval for Kelmscott Park, a new community of luxury single-family homes, condominiums and apartments located at Laurel and Western avenues at the north end of downtown Lake Forest. The development will be built on a 10.7-acre site with more than 50 percent of the area dedicated to open space.
