(June 20, 2017 – Chicago, IL) Focus Development, one of Chicagoland’s premier developers was joined by Soul City Church, a Chicago organization with the vision to lead a movement that transforms the soul, the city and the world, to celebrate the topping off of the Soul City Church project last month. The project includes renovation of the existing church building and construction of a new, 45,000 square foot, 3-story addition to a church in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago. The event included lunch for the dedicated group of tradesmen and woman who have been working to make the project a reality since the project kicked off in October of last year.
(June 19, 2017) Chicago, IL – June 12th through the 18th marked the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) annual Safe and Sound Week, a time dedicated to refocusing on effective safety and health programs. Specifically, management, leadership and worker participation in safe and sound workplace practices while taking the time to identify and fix existing workplace hazards.

Evanston city leaders on Monday approved plans for a nine-story apartment building development at 831 Emerson Street near downtown.

The 410 units of the rebranded SCIO apartments are being renovated and will be joined by a new 19-story tower.
While the West Loop continues to heat up, some of the energy is migrating south over the Eisenhower Expressway to Chicago’s University Village/Little Italy neighborhood. With its proximity to downtown and the Illinois Medical District, transit options, and an established commercial corridor on Taylor Street, developers are taking notice. At a meeting last night, several upcoming developments were shown to residents—many of which were surprisingly eager to see their neighborhood’s vacant and underutilized land revitalized.

The story of the luxury real estate market in Chicagoland is really a tale of two markets. The city’s skyline is dotted with cranes as new buildings go up to accommodate more high-end apartments and condos. But in the suburbs, a dearth of new homes has led to strong demand among luxury buyers for existing homes and the few new developments that are under way.

VERNON HILLS, IL – Area shoppers will soon have more retail options as a new upscale mall recently broke ground in Vernon Hills. Located on nearly 33 acres at the northeast corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Townline Road, Mellody Farm has already signed on some major tenants, including Whole Foods, outdoor retailer REI, Home Goods and Nordstrom Rack with plans to announce more stores and restaurants in the coming months.The $200 million project will also include a residential component with 260 apartments on site, according to the Vernon Hills Review.
The Parker at Fulton Market has been selected as a finalist for ULI’s 2017 Vision Award. Projects selected for this award are examples of excellence across “the full development process – construction, economic viability, marketing, and management—as well as design – and promote best practices in development”. Winners in this category utilize creativity across process, partnerships, problem-solving and design.
On April 21, 2017, the Focus team will join Regency Centers, Atlantic Realty Partners, and members of the Vernon Hills community to celebrate the ground breaking of Mellody Farm, a mixed use development community is a project consisting of 274,000 SF of retail space and 260 luxury rental apartments at the historic Hawthorn Mellody Farm Dairy site.
