(June 20, 2017 – Chicago, IL) Focus Development, one of Chicagoland’s premier developers was joined by Soul City Church, a Chicago organization with the vision to lead a movement that transforms the soul, the city and the world, to celebrate the topping off of the Soul City Church project last month. The project includes renovation of the existing church building and construction of a new, 45,000 square foot, 3-story addition to a church in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago. The event included lunch for the dedicated group of tradesmen and woman who have been working to make the project a reality since the project kicked off in October of last year.

The 410 units of the rebranded SCIO apartments are being renovated and will be joined by a new 19-story tower.
While the West Loop continues to heat up, some of the energy is migrating south over the Eisenhower Expressway to Chicago’s University Village/Little Italy neighborhood. With its proximity to downtown and the Illinois Medical District, transit options, and an established commercial corridor on Taylor Street, developers are taking notice. At a meeting last night, several upcoming developments were shown to residents—many of which were surprisingly eager to see their neighborhood’s vacant and underutilized land revitalized.
The Atworth at Mellody Farm, multi-family residential project in Vernon Hills is taking shape now that mass-earth work is nearing completion and the foundation excavation has begun.

The first phase of a planned 500-unit expansion of the Medical District Apartments on Chicago’s Near West Side is preparing to move forward. According to paperwork recently filed with the City of Chicago, developers are seeking a zoning approval to construct a 19-story, 254-unit apartment tower that would replace a two-level parking deck at the northeast corner of Ashland and Taylor.

But in the suburbs, a dearth of new homes has led to strong demand among luxury buyers for existing homes and the few new developments that are under way.
